The Revenant : the tale of a vengeful surviver

First of all, it will be very tough for you to watch the movie. This means that director Alejandro González Iñárritu did not leave out any of the difficulties that can be developed in an adverse situation! So it must be difficult to sit and watch the full movie as you will also feel the pain. And as you will also realize that, Leonardo DiCaprio admits to how much ‘hardships’ to portray a single character. This inherent actor, however, has also confronted a lot of trouble in "The Wolf of Wall Street" to give his best. But there is no reason to think that he does it to win any honour, nomination or award.

The way he won the Oscar for The Revenant and put the award under his feet indicates that his suffering is not Oscar-centric. The secret of the whole performance is exact perseverance and acting with complete dedication. Leo has shown his highest commitment to take Michael Punke's "The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge" into the screen. And of course, the best director of the moment is - Iñárritu.

Leave what Leo wants or doesn't. Academy Awards voters possibly like to watch the actors suffer! And their reliance on Iñárritu is as great as that of our viewers. As a result, that's what happened! The Leo-Iñárritu duo was recognized as the best. The role of Hugh Glass, an incredible hunter of the 1820s, was not limited to Leo's career. That screen-roll created a new dimension of fulfilling the goal of acting.

That (CGI) is not limited to a bloody fight with a bear or getting a flesh-blood out of a dead animal's body and protect himself into it from the cold or eating a raw bison's liver (not real). Leo's head-to-head battle on the screen was a struggle for survival. The battle to escape from near to death. Literally becoming ‘The Revenant’.

The original story of the movie is taken from the novel of the same name by Michael Punke. In the eighteenth century, a group of American hunters and trappers came to the Dakota area and engaged in a clash with the Red Indians. They have Frontiersman Hugh Glass as their guide.
Although many in the group disagreed with Glass, they all agreed that Glass was the only one who knew the way to this icy remote area. But suddenly one day he was caught by a terrifying bear.

Although he was able to defeat the bear by fighting relentlessly, Glass was severely injured. Failing to carry him to this secluded area, his party abandoned him. Only his son and two members of the team are with him. But they also duped with the glass, killed her son and left him.
The indescribable attempt for the survival of  Glass begins, with the madness of revenge of his boy's murder. Will he be able to bring himself back from the brink of death?

The movie's Oscar-winning director Iñárritu tried to ensure the best technical terms. Seeing his long shot and single panning camera work brought great peace to anyone's eyes. The nature covered in white snow and the forest background is perfectly captured on camera.
And the scene of DiCaprio's fight with the bear is one of the scenes of the year, the shots seem to come alive due to the captivating graphics.

The two main characters in the movie are Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, so there is nothing to say about acting. Tom Hardy was serious enough in his negative role.

Caprio has taken his acting talent to another level in this movie. For instance, the character of the dying patient or the character of the childless vengeful father, he has portrayed everything perfectly. He ate raw fish and raw animal meat, drowned in frozen ice, and slept on the backs of dead horses.

On the one hand, such an incomparable performance and on the other hand, there is no strong opponent, made him more successful.

Along with the survival adventure in the movie, some more parables have emerged in the movie. There are love stories of father and son, love stories of husband and wife. The son's best efforts to heal his father when he was injured.

There is no dialogue in the movie. The story is told in several subplots, a perfect blend of a revenge plot in the western form with survival plot. There is no action scene. Acting is all about being with expression.

However, the main attraction of the movie is its technical aspect, all the captivating locations, the cunning manipulation of the camera will all keep you stuck towards the movie.

I don't know how could I rate this series?

In Greek mythology, the opening of a box called Pandora's Box brings out all the bad things in the world, leaving only one thing, "hope"!
Michel Scofield 'Fish', a structural engineer, goes to jail himself to set up a bank robbery drama to save his brother from murder. Well, how many people can become reckless if they have no way to survive? 

Just a month ago, those who were ordinary people, their lives become unbearable? But that "hope" was still in the Pandora's box!

Did anyone think that small decisions would take so long like the 'Butterfly effect'?
This is best understood when Schofield says to himself "And I'm gonna show you just like the butterfly wings, the piece of gum is gonna start a sequence of events that will finish on the other side of the world."

"Prison break" couldn’t be described in only a few words . Every move was so sophisticated! All in all a perfect team. The performance of each character will fascinate. You may start hating them but you’ll end up loving them! Watching this was one of the best things that ever happened to me
Season 8 has to be said separately, the whole  Mind-blowing! You won't sleep after watching this season!

The difficulty of watching the series is that it is like a black hole, where 10 days from life will be lost, no one can find out. In these 10 days, every character becomes so familiar that when you will finish it, you have to think, "If I could forget all these things."

Off-Topic: 
Please don't compare Michael Scofield, Professor Sergio, Thomas Shelby and Sir Walter white between each other. All of them are best in their fields and belong to a different genre. Comparing just ruins your taste.

Some interesting facts :

1. In 1970, a man named Donald Hughes released his brother Roberts from prison in a similar manner, claiming that the series was based on the incident. However, this claim could not be substantiated.

2. The number of prisons which were shown in the 'Prison break' do not exist, only 'Miami-Dade Women's Facility Penitentiary' was exceptional.

3. In 2016, Dominic Purcell posted on his Instagram account mentioning that season 6 is coming. However, he later deleted it. He was the producer of season 5.

Vikings : Epic of a belligerent nation

Vikings are one of the most adventurous nations in human history. There was very little "fear" in them. On the contrary, in the Middle Ages, the whole of Europe was terrified of this nation. They were fearless, possessed of sturdy bodies, stronger than other nations, enduring hardships, extraordinary warriors and barbaric pirates.

In 2013, History Channel created the historical drama series "Vikings" with the story of the rise of this belligerent nation. The series has a total of 79 episodes in 6 seasons out of which 69 episodes have been released, the remaining 10 episodes are scheduled to be released in November this year. The length of each episode is about 45 minutes. The whole series is based on almost true events, each of the main characters exists in history.

The story begins with the life of Ragnar Lodbrok, a 7th-century Scandinavian (now Norway, Denmark, and Sweden) farmer. Ragnar is a farmer and part-time pirate. Every year they would attack and loot the regions to the east of their country at the behest of the leader and return. But one day Ragnar learns that there is a country in the west called England where there is vast wealth. Ragnar told his leader that they wanted to go west this time but the leader did not agree and said there was no such country. So Ragnar built a ship with the help of a shipbuilder named Flóki, his friend, and sailed with his brother and a few friends to the unknown country named, England. Thus begins the story of a farmer who becomes the king of the whole of Scandinavia after his name and terror spread throughout the world one day.

In a word, it is a complete series. This series will draw you in if you are a fan of epic dramas like Game of Thrones.

The series has been made very rational. The existence of religion is much greater throughout the series. In particular, the predominance of ancient Norse and Christianity has been shown to be in line with that of the Vikings and Europeans at the time. Norse gods like Odin, Thor, Loki, Freyja are mentioned here. Many of the Vikings' atrocities are known from this series, such as human sacrifice, the slaughter of slaves as gifts to the corpses of the upper class, the killing of weak or physically disabled children, and the brutal practice of executing blood eagles.

The wonderful natural environment of Scandinavia is beautifully portrayed in the series.

Now let's move on to some of my favourite characters.

Ragnar Lodbrok: Ragnar Lodbrok is the central character in this series. Even the 'Vikings' is based on medieval tales 'The sagas of Viking Ragnar Lodbrok' or 'Ragnar Lodbrok'.

The series shows how he became the king of the whole of Scandinavia in his own right, from an ordinary peasant. He was a charismatic leader. Due to his courage and intelligence, he became known all over the world as a legend. Ragnar is shown as a family man who loves his family very much. He loves the people of his country in the same way and he is willing to take any step for their bright future. But even though he is a hero, he is a human being. People just make mistakes and have to pay for those mistakes.

Australian actor Travis Fimmel played the role of Ragnar. And he has poured all his dedications into the character as 'Ragnar'. His style of dialogue delivery, body movement, facial expression was incredible in a word. If you have seen the 'Vikings', then, of course, Ragnar Lodbrok will become one of the favourite characters of the TV series you have seen. And Travis Fimmel played a significant role behind it.

The moment of Ragnar's death will make you emotional surely.

Lagertha: Lagertha is the first wife of Ragnar Lodbrok. She is both a housewife and a shield fighter. She is the strongest female character in the series, both physically and mentally. There is a very strong love bond between her and Ragnar but after Ragnar's second marriage she broke up and left with her son Bjorn. After leaving Ragnar, Lagertha became tougher and stronger and at one point reached the top of power.

Lagertha's character is a powerful reflection of an independent woman. She was at the same time a kind mother and the most famous female warrior in the world at that time. The tragic death of such an extraordinary character was not really desirable. 

Bjorn Ironside: Bjorn, the eldest son of Ragnar and Lagertha. He saw his father how to turn from a farmer to a king since his childhood. But after the separation of the parents, Bjorn decided to leave Ragnar and go with Lagertha. But in the case of Ragnar's difficulty, he always responds to the help of his father.

Bjorn is a young blood and terrible warrior. In the first battle of his life, he killed his opponents without getting injured So Ragnar gave him the title 'Ironside'. Bjorn was once known around the world as his father for his extraordinary heroism. He became the king of his country at one time.  Bjorn Ironside is a playboy type character. The list of his wife and lover is very long. His character has been made based on history. In the series, we see an incident in Paris in which Ragnar pretends to die and enters the city in a coffin and opens the main gate of the city to loot. The real fact is the incident was Bjorn's. 

Inspired by history, it was later shown in the series as Ragnar's incident. 

Ivar the boneless: He is the youngest son of Ragnar. We know the little boys in the family are a little bit badass in nature. But Ivar has crossed all limits. He was physically disabled. But his clever intellect succumbs to the rate of paralysis. He is the most violent character in this series in a humane way. Murder is child's play to him. He even killed his brother in front of everyone in anger. Ivar once became king and later claimed to be God.

Ivar is perfect in getting his work done by others. Although he is a negative character, I like him very much.

I also liked the characters of Floki, Rollo, Ubba, King Ecbert, Judith, King Alfred.

What more can I say about Judith's beauty?

All in all, 'Vikings' is a tremendous TV series. There is a lot to learn about medieval history and culture in this series. You can spend your time watching the series at this quarantine period. Hope you don’t get disappointed.

14 Best Korean thrillers you must watch

Koreans are probably foremost in the world of thrillers. After Hollywood, the most exceptional movies are made by Koreans. 

I have mentioned here some thrill movies. I am a fan of their movie-making. There may have seen many more movies, this list is my personal opinion. I believe that these movies will not waste your time.

1. Memories of murder (2003).

Rating: IMDB-8.1

Genre: Mystery, thriller.

Story:

In 1978, a serial killer appeared in Korea. He brutally murdered women and girls on a rainy night. Two detectives worked to catch him.

Could they catch him?

2. Old boy (2003).

Rating: IMDB-8.4, Rotten tomatoes-83%.

Genre: Mystery, action, thriller.

Story:

A man was confined to a room for 15 years. After leaving the room, his only goal is to find the person who confined him and kill mercilessly. He found the man but could do nothing.

But why?

The story of revenge. Your will be thundered.

3. No mercy (2010)

Rating: IMDB-7.5.

Genre: Drama, Mystery, Thriller.

Story:

A forensic pathologist gets a body which is cut into three pieces. The killer is also caught but the pathologist saves the killer. What was the reason?

If you want to know, you have to see the full.

4. I saw the devil (2010).

Rating: IMDB-7.8, Rotten tomatoes-81%.

Genre: Drama, thriller.

Story:

A psycho killer appears in town who brutally kills women. One day he kills the wife of a police officer. The officer grabs the killer and releases him again. But why?

Have you ever seen the devil? If the answer is no, then you should watch the movie.

5. Memoir of a murderer (2017).

Rating: IMDB-7.1

Genre: Crime, drama.

Story:

A murderer is found, another murderer like him. The man tries to save his daughter from that murderer.

This is like a battle of demons with demons. Who will win?

Pay close attention to what you see in the movie. Nevertheless, you will feel like time is wasted.

6. Confession of murder (2012)

Genre: Crime, thriller.

Story:

An author publishes a book in which some of the murders are described. His writings match with some of the murders that took place in the city. A detective started an investigation into this.

Is the writer of the book a murderer? or is there someone else behind it?

Story:

A man runs a brothel. But the girls who work here are suddenly disappearing. One night a call comes. He had a girl left. He notices all the girl is going to the same address.

A new virus has spread in the city. As a result of the virus, people are turning into zombies. Some people get infected with the virus on the train in which the leading character and his daughter board. Gradually, the virus spreads in the whole train. On the day of his mother's death, a detective killed a man in an accident. A day later, someone started blackmailing him about the murder.

A family earns its livelihood by making pizza boxes. The youngest son of the family gets an offer to tutor in a house. He gives his family members different jobs in that house. They were all living happily but after one night everything changed.

Der Pass (Pegan Peak) : story of ritualistic serial killings

Detectives on both sides were confused by the condition of the body and the murder plot. Because this murder was not an ordinary one, as if it has been done following any special method or ritual. 

The assassination is reminiscent of the ancient pagan monster Krampus. 
(This evil monster of European folklore was originally created to scare children. Santa Claus is for good children whereas Krampus is for bad children. Krampus, dressed as a half-goat and half-monster, who comes in a 'Krampus night' to punish small wicked children. The practice of calling Krampus who has large horns on the head, terribly sharp teeth and sharp blood-thirsty eye, on the afternoon of 5th December in every year is still exercised in some European countries, including Germany.) 

By the time the three bodies were found in the same way one by one, the law enforcement agencies of the two sides had realized that the matter was no longer in their hands. 

If this serial killer is not caught soon, the existence of such killing will increase day by day. But is it so easy? Though he is a serial killer, he is always two steps ahead of the police. Yet the conflict does not stop. An Austrian detective named Winter (Gedeon Winter) and a German detective named Ellie (Julia Jentsch) and their team continue to work to bring this psycho killer to justice.

Who doesn't like forests and serial killers? That's how the interest in the series grows if the movie has such a strong plot, skilful screenplay, flamboyant acting style and a blend of background music relevant to the environment of the plot. Honestly, you will enjoy it very much. 

Thappad: A wake up call for our women

Just think, in a crowded meeting, your wife would slap you on the face. How would you feel? Imagine a little!
Could you tolerate the whole thing? Are the veins on both sides of the neck swollen with anger, rage, humiliation, pain? For that slap in less than a second, is your whole world upside down right now?
Just think about thar situation! Then what could go on inside the girl who was humiliated in front of everyone in this way? In a moment, her life was filled with emptiness, loneliness and disrespect.

Oh no! She's a girl, she has to adapt to a little slap. The is a common thing in families. This is how our mothers and grandmothers have been living. Director Anubhav Sinha has given a slap in the face to this erroneous unfair rule of the patriarchal society, the heinous concept of the medieval period; with his movie 'Thappad' (Slap). Seven women who acted in the movie including Taapsee Pannu have made that slap more alive.

The movie further showed that in our society, physical assault is not a serious matter for girls. From upper class to middle class, middle class to lower class --- There is a custom of beating wife effortlessly in almost every house in almost all the races and religions of India. The upper class does this by running loudspeakers in the house. Middle class and lower class do not care about public shame. The next day, the girl or the wife hides the scars of assault and tells everyone, 'I fell and got hurt.' That picture is very clear in this movie.

'Thappad' (Slap) is the story of an Indian housewife named Amrita. She has a happy small family. Husband Vikram is addicted to work. Taking care of her mother-in-law who is a diabetic patient, taking care of all the household chores alone and accepting her husband's happiness as her own happiness; She has strangled and killed all her personal desires to make her husband happy. But Amrita never had any regrets about that. That familiar scene changed on the day while Vikram slapped her on her face at a houseful party. Even after this, should a girl tolerate everything and say ‘Husband is the ultimate master’?

The movie then revolves around the slap. Where it has been said, a slap is equally disrespectful to both men and women. It is not only insulting to women or men alone. Only he, who has confronted this humiliation knows it makes a person how much traumatized, whether in a closed room or in front of people. At the same time, it has been said that the way in which Indian society or India respects the institution called 'marriage', slap is enough to destroy that institution. Although both the bride and groom have been advised to adapt to save the 'institution', it will be given also in upcoming days, but only to the girls. After the release of the movie trailer, 'divorced for a slap!' Many in the patriarchal society could not accept this. There was a message of a hundred years of injustice behind a slap. There was a call to awaken the eroded self-esteem. So, not only the slap is the message, but also the thousands of injustice that have been highlighted in the name of acceptance behind it.

This 142-minute film is about a society where a girl is raised from a young age with the teaching that 'You have to adopt'. You have to learn to hold on. It could be a slap! In fact, many people are accustomed to hearing such things. But let's break that taboo and endure this time equally. Domestic violence, uxoricide, dowry are talked about every day but if it is possible to raise voice against the first slap; the scenario could change in future.
